Well, it's official: King Tutankhamen drank red wine. According to a cnn.com news report, researcher Maria Rosa Guasch-Jane analyzed traces of the wine found in King Tut's tomb using a newly invented process that detects syringic acid, a color compound not found in white wine. Guasch-Jane pointed out that there had been clues to the wine preferences of the ancient Egyptians--like red-colored grapes depicted in old drawings--but until now, it had not been scientifically confirmed. I can just imagine the Wine Market Council's next ad campaign: Drink Like an Egyptian.
