Grand Cru : [ Ollwiller ]
History
" Wounach " is quoted as early as 1272.
The village, although parish as of the 13th century, was part of the commune of Soultz until 1832.
At the beginning of the 13th century, Ollwiller, situated next to Wuenheim, was given by the count of Ferrette to the Cistercians of " Lieu Croissant " (departement of Doubs).
They sold it in 1260 to the knights " Waldner ", who immediately built a castle in the service of the bishop of Strasbourg.
Rebuilt in 1752, it was destroyed in 1915 at the time of the relentless combats which took place on the " Hartmannswillerkopf ", vosgean massif at the foot of which is Wuenheim.
Sightseeing
Historical place, sadly known battle field of the " Hartmannswillerkopf " or " Old-Armand".
The church Saint Gilles, of neo-classic style dates from the 19th century.
