History
Known as of 1138 under the name of " Castinetum ".
This Celtic and Gallo-Roman agglomeration is located on the Roman way skirting the Vosges on its Eastern face.
Fortified town belonging to the bishops of Strasbourg, it was occupied by the Middle-class of Sélestat in the 13th century, then during the 15th century by the " Armagnac ".

Site of Neolithic finds. Roman vestiges such as military terminals and thermal baths still remain.
Remainders of the castle of the 13th century: the trenched enclosure, the turrets with loopholes, the gate known as " Witches'tower " of 12th to the 15th centuries topped with a nest of storks.

The church Saint Georges with its nave in collateral of the 18th century, its Romanic bell tower with double row of bays, arrow and bartizans of Renaissance style, its low reliefs of the 16th and 17th centuries, its Silbermann's organ of the 18th century, its baptismal fonts of the 18th century, and its emblazoned gravestones also of the 18th century.
