
Riesling of the world competition

Created in 1998, the contest Riesling of the world takes place in Strasbourg, the capital of one of the best wine growing region :Alsace in the north east part of France
An international jury composed of wine professionals (oenologists, wine waiters, cellar masters, wine makers and tasters)is submitted a wide range of throughout the world wines.
Over 500 riesling wines are tasted. Each one has its own flavour, diversity, richness garanted by the multiple place of production. this conquest meets the very demanding standards approved by the International Wine Office
The 2005 edition alloted 5 premier gold medals among 315 wine growers from 11 countries ; 4 premier gold medals went to Alsacian wine growers:
- The viticultural cellar of Andlau with a generic Riesling Weinberg 2003
- The domaine des Marroniers in Andlau with a Riesling Late Grape Harvest Wiebelsberg 2001
- The domaine du Tonnelier in Dambach la Ville with a Late Grape harvest 2001 Louis Hauller
- The domaine Dopff and Irion in Riquewihr with a Riesling Grand Cru Schoenenbourg 2002
The fifth gold medal went to The viticultural cellar Prinz Von Preussen with a Riesling Erbacher Marcobrunn Ertes Gewâchs
The 2004 edition has awarded 2 Alsacian wine growers:
- The domaine Beyer Emile in Eguisheim with a Grand Cru Pfersigberg 2002
- The domaine Zink Pierre Paul in Pfaffenheim with a Grand Cru Steinert 2002
